Reach for the

HeART

“Reach for the HEART” (RFTH) a project initiated by Sin Sin Fine Art and Art in Hospital since 2009. It aims to serve elderly patients with continues creative workshops.

Introduction

Art as the stimulus; Colours as the Cure

Reach for the HeART is specifically designed to serve elderly patients with chronic diseases in the public hospitals. These geriatric patients are the most prone to anxiety due to their deteriorating health and lonesome feeling in the foreign and cold hospital environment, and it is our hope to help them go through this stage of life with joy and dignity. With the help of local artists as facilitators, geriatric patients can enjoy a moment of peace and self-expression with the creation of art pieces.

Since 2009, we have conducted Multi-media workshops in various geriatric wards of 12 hospitals including:

  • Caritas Medical Centre
  • Castle Peak Hospital
  • Grantham Hospital
  • Haven of Hope Hospital
  • Kwai Chung Hospital
  • Kowloon Hospital
  • North District Hospital
  • Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital
  • Pok Oi Hospital
  • Queen Elizabeth YMT Geriatric Day Hospital
  • Ruttonjee Hospital
  • Wong Chuk Hang Hospital
  • United Christian Hospital

with geriatric patients suffered from depression, schizophrenia, dementia, also patients from rehabilitation, physiotherapy or Palliative wards with various terminal illnesses.
